Handle the tooth by the crown (the white part), not the root. If possible, gently rinse it without scrubbing and try to reinsert it into the socket. If that isn't possible, keep it moist — in milk or your saliva — and get to us as soon as possible, as timing can affect the chance of saving the tooth.
Rinse your mouth with warm water. A cold compress against the outside of your cheek may help with discomfort. Avoid placing aspirin directly against the gum or tooth.
